Christie's to offer works of art from the Scheringa Museum of Realist Art in autumn of 2012 and spring 2013

NEW YORK, NY.- Christie’s will offer international works of art from the former collection of the Scheringa Museum, as agreed by the Administrator of DS Art B.V., part of the DSB Group, and Deutsche Bank. In total, 221 works of art will be offered at a series of auctions in Amsterdam, London, New York and Hong Kong through the autumn of 2012 and spring 2013. They are expected to realise a combined total of €6 million to €10 million.

On 18th September 2012 Christie’s Amsterdam will host a dedicated auction of 160 works of contemporary, realist art. This will include works by the Americans Duane Hanson, Alex Katz and Eric Fischl, as well as other celebrated international, artists including the Turkish artist Taner Ceylan, the German artist Tim Eitel and the Israelian artist Yigal Ozeri. The auction will also present a diverse group of works representing young, predominantly European artists. In total, the auction will offer works by 53 international artists, with estimates ranging from €800 to €200,000.

On 27th November 2012, Christie’s Amsterdam will offer 28 works from the former collection of DS Art B.V. at the auction of Impressionist and Modern Art. These include the impressive portrait of Valerius de Saedeleer by the Belgian painter Gustave van de Woestyne, and a group of 18 works of art by the French artist Felix Tobeen.

In autumn 2012 and spring 2013, 26 works of art will be sold at Christie’s auctions in London, New York and Hong Kong. The auctions of Impressionist and Modern Art and Art of the Surreal in London in February will present 21 works, led by Ceci n’est pas une pomme by René Magritte.

Other works will be offered in New York, where Christie’s will offer monumental sculptures by Fernando Botero at the Post War & Contemporary Latin American Evening Sales that will take place in November 2012 and May 2013. Further works will be offered at the auctions of Post-War and Contemporary art in November in New York and Hong Kong.
